Armine Harutyunyan
Contemporary Armenian silversmith artist based in Yerevan
Imagine a journey where the rigid lines of architecture intersect with the fluid grace of silversmithing, creating a symphony of beauty and passion. Trained as an architect, I spent over a decade shaping spaces and dreams. Then, like a whirlwind, silversmithing swept me off my feet, lighting a fire of inspiration and new purpose within me.
Silversmithing isn't merely a profession- it's calling that has enriched my life in ways i could have never imagined
There's a magical allure to working with stones and metal, a dance of transformation where raw silver surrenders to my touch, yielding stunning jewelry. Each gem whispers its desires, beckoning from tabletops, waiting to be molded into artistry. I surrender to their call, weaving their dreams into reality.
I love thie quiet view that greets me each morning upon entering my studio. It doesn't last long though. I put on my favorite music and so the creative process starts to unfold with my favorite melodies.
I find immense joy in crafting with silver sheet and wire, where I engage intimately in the art of cutting, soldering, and meticulously polishing each piece by hand.
There's a profound satisfaction in mastering the metal, shaping it to my vision, and achieving a rustic, earthy allure with a deep, rich patina.
Life is so overwhelming these days, and I deeply cherish to have a space where I can sift through the cacophony of life's demands and arrange the fragments of my inner world with calm and care.
Seeds of Wind
I sell my jewelry under the brand name "Seeds of Wind." This name was chosen because it embodies something ethereal and impossible, evoking a sense of wonder. The inspiration comes from powerful proverbs about seeds and wind, such as "Whoever sows the wind will reap the storm" and "They tried to bury us; they didn't know we were seeds".
Over the past eight years, I've embarked on an exhilarating adventure, showcasing my creations in exhibitions spanning Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Georgia. In 2021, the culmination of this journey manifested in a personal exhibition, a testament to perseverance and dedication.
But the true joy lies in the smiles of women adorned with my creations. Their happiness radiates, illuminating the world with warmth and positivity. It's a privilege to be a part of their journey, contributing to the harmony and beauty that surrounds us all.
In 2021 I was featured on Armenian Public TV on a program called "5 Minutes of Art"
This was my first experience on TV, and I enjoyed it immensely, despite feeling shy and nervous. The crew were all sweethearts, doing their best to make me feel as comfortable as possible.
